Cowboys & Aliens (2011)
A spaceship arrives in Arizona, 1873, to take over the Earth, starting with the Wild West region. A posse of cowboys are all that stand in their way.
Jon Favreau “you da man” i admire yo work. This one was a tough one to judge.
I initially thought this was a Wild Wild West (1999) mash-up with Outlander (2008). But then it dawned on me… fuck… it’s exactly like High Plains Invaders (2009).
Thankfully, this had a solid cast and great special effect work. This was a different western - obviously. The alien race was “ok” and their methods were… a tad bit convenient, in regards to the whole western/cowboy/gold mining theme.
Craig. Daniel Craig did a stupendous job, Alongside legendary Harrison Ford! who fuckin’ tore it up once again. That smirk gets me every time. Olivia Wilde was gorgeous, as usual… those damn eyes that hot bod. And Sam Rockwell rocks it as well, taking the passenger seat (so to speak) and yet holding his own. Everyone else = excellent.
A western with guns aimed at kids. Fun, thrilling and satisfied my popcorn movie craving. Wasn’t my cup-o-tea but it did it’s job… entertain.
